There are many ways to raise awareness in your school about teen dating violence. It can be as simple as handing out ribbons, or making a few announcements over the loudspeaker. The following ideas are separated into three types of events.

Awareness and information events are designed to make large groups of people aware of the issue. They give people enough basic facts to care, or to notice the issue.

Persuasion and action projects typically reach smaller groups of people and are designed to get people to involved with time or money. The goal is to get others to change behavior and take action.

- Conducting a survey (remember to keep it short)
- Forming an anti-violence group
- A speak out or teach-in
- Fundraisers for a local domestic violence organization or shelter

Policy projects are a type of action project. They are designed to make rules or law changes. They take a lot of time and energy, but the changes are long lasting. This idea works best with two or three people.

- Letter-writing campaigns
- Petitions
- Attending school board meetings
- Writing policy
